Ice Sculptures to be carved Saturday

Due to the weather and the cancellation of Grand Meander the ice sculptures were put on hold. The wonderful volunteers that were planning to carve the ice have all agreed to do the carving this Saturday. Today, the ice sculpture (left) will be done -- locations for the sculptures starting at 9 a.m. will be at Arts on Grand, Bogenrief's Studio, Toads Coffee and The Hen House.

God's Portion Sale and Dinner

Dickens United Methodist Church will host its annual God's Portion Sale and Dinner with turkey and all the trimmings and homemade pie beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. A free will offering will be collected. The auction will follow at 12:30 p.m.


Entertainment at the Southpark Mall

Saturday, Dec. 13 kids come enjoy decorating cookies, six cookies for $1. At 11 a.m. Sacred Heart 3rd and 5th graders caroling for our entertainment. At 1 p.m. the Impulse Dance Academy and Brandon Dale Guitar Students will entertain. On Sunday, Dec. 14, the Girl Scouts are caroling at 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. the Senior Bell Choir will provide entertainment. Visit Santa Saturday and Sunday 12-5 p.m.


First English Christmas Cantata

"And Glory Shone Around" -- a creative and fresh way to worship for honoring Love's perfect Light. FELC Choir presents this inspirational cantata at the 10:45 a.m. worship service and again at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. The afternoon presentation will be followed by a soup and sandwich supper with a free-will offering being accepted.


Zion United Methodist hosts evening of holiday music

Zion United Methodist Church, rural Spencer, will once again host its annual Christmas Evening of Carols and Hymns at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. Those attending are sure to be reminded of a time when family and friends gathered together to celebrate Christmas in a simple, meaningful way. Refreshments will also be served.


Once Upon A Holy Night

Once Upon A Holy Night -- the story of God's promise will be presented by the First Lutheran Celebration Choir, directed by Bob Floss on Saturday and Sunday, Dec, 13-14. The performances will take place at First Lutheran Church, 1525 Three Cross Road, West Okoboji at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, and 8:30 and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
