Holiday Adoption first drop off date Saturday

Friday, December 12, 2008
Northwest Iowa, you did it!

All 90 families on the list for the Holiday Family Adoption program have been "adopted," and will have a happier holiday thanks to the generosity of the area's residents.

Now it's time to gather the gifts in anticipation of delivery by the Spencer Volunteer Firemen, UPS drivers and Spencer Rotary members.

Saturday will mark the first of two drop-off days for those who have completed their shopping, wrapping and marking of presents for the families you've adopted.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. that morning, until 12 noon, gifts can be dropped off at The Depot Building at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Volunteers will be on hand to help unload gifts.

You can also drop off items next Saturday, December 20, also from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon, also at The Depot at the fairgrounds.

Then, on Sunday, December 21, the Spencer Volunteer Firemen, Spencer Rotary volunteers and area UPS employees will deliver the gifts to families.

If you have any questions about the program, or drop off information, contact Paula Buenger, Publisher, Spencer Daily Reporter, at 262-6610, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The holiday spirit is alive and well in Northwest Iowa, and the community's neediest will be enjoying the holiday season even more, thanks to the region's warm-hearted residents.
