Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Pingel-Reed, 83 of Peterson will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at United Methodist Church of Peterson. Rev. Esta M. Fraley will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday with the family present at the Warner Funeral Home of Peterson.

Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery of Peterson.

Bonnie passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bonnie Gail (Cobb, Pingel) Reed, the daughter of George and Berneice (Moody) Cobb, was born Jan. 26, 1925 on a farm two miles north of Rossie, where she lived the first 20 years of her life. She received her education in Rossie Consolidated School, where she graduated in 1942. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for two years and then taught school for one year in Royal.

Bonnie married Ralph E. Pingel on Oct. 10, 1945 in St. John's Church at Brooke. They farmed 10 miles southwest of Peterson for 10 years. They and their family of four children then moved to the farm just north of the St. John Church, four miles south of Peterson. Bonnie began teaching in the Sioux Valley School at Linn Grove in 1959. She completed her B.A. degree while attending Buena Vista in 1967. She then taught school in Sutherland Elementary for 21 years before retiring in 1988. In the 30 years of teaching, she loved every student she taught.

Bonnie was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church being actively involved in the Esther Circle and United Methodist Women, which her social life and work were centered around. She was also a member of N.E.A. and I.S.E.A.

She was preceded in death by her parents;, her first husband, Ralph; her second husband, Byron; and her sister, Jo Sharp.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Jean Poole of Martinsville, Ind.; daughter, Shamon Krager and husband, Ron of Peterson; son, Kevin Pingel and wife, Barb of Alta; son, Brent Pingel and wife, Jan of Peterson; her step children: Doug Reed and wife, Diane of Peterson, Jon Reed and wife, Gayle of Humboldt, and Mary Jo Olthoff husband, Mike of Storm Lake; grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Peterson is in charge of arrangements.
