Funeral services for Mrs. Maurine Peterson, 83 of Spencer were held Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 in Warner Chapel of Spencer. Revs. Dale Hodges and Michael Sharp officiated the service.

Interment took place at Riverside Cemtery in Spencer.

Maurine passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at Spencer Hospital.

Maurine Agnes Peterson, the daughter of Adolf Hans and Laura Ellen Dyer Gravlund, was born April 25, 1925 in Emmetsburg. She received her early education in country schools.

Maurine married Lester Raymond Kathman in 1939 in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Estherville and Emmetsburg.

In 1953, Maurine married Leslie Peterson at the Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, they lived in Emmetsburg and then in Ruthven where they owned and operated a bakery. In 1962, they moved to Spencer where Maurine worked at Sernnets, Truck Haven and sold Stanley Home Products. Maurine was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her son, Bill; grandsons: Monty and Robert; granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Sondra; and brother, Cleo.

Maurine is survived by her children: Jerry and Annette Kathman of Ayrshire, Ruth and Ronald Hanson of Ayrshire, Roger and Carol Kathman of Spencer, Janice and Skip Wallace of Emmetsburg, Debra and Gene McGuire of Spencer, and Donna Peterson of Greenville, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Mary Kathman of Ayrshire; 22 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and sister, Leola and Larry Kliegl of Emmetsburg.

Warner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
