American Education Week (continued Lincoln Elementary)

Thursday, November 20, 2008
American Education Week is Nov. 17-21. This year's theme is: "Great Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility." Spencer schools have several events planned for this special week. Those include: District Teacher Appreciation, Alumni (College Colors Day), Support Staff/Substitutes, Volunteers Day, Celebrate Reading Day, and Purple and Gold Day. The staff is also doing a can food drive for Upper Des Moines Pantry.

Today, parents are invited for a brown bag lunch at the elementary buildings with their students in the Spencer Community schools.

What Education Means to Me:

Education means learning to me. I think education is very important because then you can go to college and get a job. You will get paid so you can buy food and clothing for your family. In some odd way it helps you live a happy life.

Education is important because I can be a better writer and reader. It is important so that I can get into college. Then I can get a good job. If I stay in school, I will get smarter.
