Funeral services for Bob LaBrant, 98 of Spencer will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Spencer. President Jim Olsen will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. on Wednesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Bob passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at Spencer Hospital.

Those in attendance are invited to join us for lunch and a time of fellowship at the Spencer Country Club immediately following the committal service at the cemetery.

Bob, the son of Roy Seeber and Audrey (Livingston) LaBrant, was born Nov. 29, 1909, in Spencer. His childhood years were spent in Spencer where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School. Following high school, he worked at Bjornstad Drug Store during the depression and later organized a feed company, worked at Standard Oil Company, sold real estate, and farmed.

Bob married Jackie Raddon on Aug. 12, 1939, in Spencer. Throughout their married life, they farmed near Spencer until moving to town in 1962. He was an active member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Spencer and on Sept. 10, 1961, became branch president of the church and performed the first marriage ceremony in the Spencer Branch on Nov. 24, 1962. He continued as branch president until 1972. Bob was an Executive Board Member of the Clay County Fair, serving as the Fair's president for 11 years. He was also a 50 year-member of Evening Shade Lodge No. 312 AF & AM, a member of the Spencer Rifle Club, and a member of the Spencer Golf and Country Club.

Bob was preceded in death were his parents; his wife, Jackie; and a brother, Donald.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Roberta Shearer and husband, Paul of Spencer; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
