After seven weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list, Dewey made the leap from No. 3 to No. 1 on the hardcover nonfiction list. According to Spencer co-author Vicki Myron (above), she has been receiving mail from all over the world with regards to "Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched The World." Myron noted that some countries won't publish the book until January or February, but it is currently out in seven countries so far including with translations for Brazil, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Holland, and Portugal. It was just sold in Iceland, Russia, Czech Republish, and Romania. Myron suggested that her agent has indicated that the book might be published in 10 additional countries and languages. Myron is resting up for next week with 11 days on the road including New York. She will also be meeting with the children's book publishers to discuss the upcoming series

of kids books.

What a great ambassador for Spencer Dewey turned out to be. A great accomplishment for Vicki and her co-author.

I have read the book Dewey. I never had the chance to meet him just having moved to the area. If I had known about Dewey before he left us, I to would have drove to Spencer just to meet him. He sounds like he was indeed amoung the elite. Sorry I missed the chance to meet such a hero! Thanks Dewey for the impact you made. I miss you because I never got the chance to grace your presence. HAPPY TAILS!

I still miss Dewey to this day. Now that I've moved to Ames, I'm very much looking forward to Vicki's book signing here! :)

It is a great thing for Spencer, and RIP Dewey.

However, with Spencer becoming a booming arts community I wish Ms. Myron would have considered a local co-writer instead of thinking she needed one from California.

We will never reach our goal in Spencer of becoming a thriving arts community if we constantly act as though arts and culture from out of town is better than what we have right here.

We don't have to become insular, by any means, but why not check out the local talent before assuming there is none?

I have no idea how a California writer was able to tell Dewey's story and capture the nuances of the story taking place in Spencer better than an area writer would have.

Jean Tennant comes to mind -- a published author -- and there are many others around.

Lakewriter51301--I moved to another state and have always read the spencer paper on a daily basis. I just finished reading the book and I loved it. what difference does it make who the co writer is? sound like you are too picky. Enjoy and appreciate it the way it is.

I am sure the book will be as popular in other countries as it has been here in the good old USA.There are few things that the nations of the world see eye to eye on. But "our" love for animals is one of those things in a majority, if not all nations.Dewey was and still is a true deplomate.See you "down range" Dewey. You were and still are "the cat's meow".
