"Flags for Freedom" is the photographic exhibit for the month of November at Arts on Grand This exhibit includes 30 photographs, a profusion of flag imagery, taken by Michael Peterson from Hackensack, Minnesota. Some of these photos are part of a photographic collection published in a book, which is available at the Gallery Shop.
Peterson took most of the photos around the northern Midwest after 9/11 as a memorial tribute of patriotic expression. At the present time Mr. Peterson is working in Iraq and his son is scheduled to be deployed there later this year.
Arts on Grand invites to local veterans and their families, the members of the local VFW's, American Legions, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts to come and see this stirring collection. Group art projects relating to this theme could be prepared for an activity.
As part of the exhibit there is an interactive timeline of all the U.S. presidents, accessible to children of all ages. Come in to Arts on Grand and learn something new. A drawing will be held of the names of those who participate in this activity and the winner will receive a copy of the book on presidents.
