Ruth Margaret Hill
Ruth Margaret Hill, 94, of Urbana, Ill., formerly of Mason City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at the Clarke Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Stiles of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.
Ruth Margaret Hill was born Oct. 7, 1914, the daughter of Helena and Harvey Ewers, in Mason City.
She married Charles James Hill on Nov. 15, 1941, in Albert Lea, Minn. They lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mason City before settling in Spencer in 1948.
Ruth was a homemaker, and they raised two children (James and Linda) in Spencer.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer for a number of years.
When Charles passed away in 2000, Ruth moved to Illinois to be nearer to her children. She lived in Prairie Village, a retirement community in Rantoul and most recently at Heartland Nursing Home in Paxton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister; and a brother.
Ruth is survived by a son, James Hill of Richmond, Ill.; a daughter, Linda Conway of Urbana, Ill.; one grandson; two brothers-in-law: Byron Hill and his wife Georgiana of Mason City, and Gordon Hill of Tucson, Ariz.; and two sisters-in-law: Lois Ellett of Sanborn, and Frances Nutton and her husband Jack of Mason City.
Memorials may be directed to the Ruth M. Hill memorial fund in care of the family.
