Donald Raymond Clifford, 89, of Lake Park, formerly of Milford and Spencer, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Excelsior United Methodist Church in Milford. Rev. Jennifer Hesebeck officiated the 2 p.m. service. Burial was at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park.
Casket bearers included Ben Clifford, Nathan Clifford, Luke Clifford, Eugene Nattress, Greg Nattress and Tyler Nattress.
Mr. Donald Raymond Clifford, the son of Elmer and Bernice (Miller) Clifford, was born April 20, 1919, on the family farm in rural Milford. He attended school in Excelsior Township and Spencer. He married Leone Goodell on June 14, 1942. He then went to serve in the motor pool of the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific.
Upon discharge, he worked at the Chevrolet dealership in Estherville. He then moved his family to the family farm, where he farmed until his retirement.
After retirement, Donald and Leone Clifford moved to Milford, where he worked at Stylecraft. He was a lifelong member of Excelsior United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of various committees, and a longtime sexton of the Excelsior Township Cemetery.
Mr. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leone, brother LaVern Clifford and one grandson, Brian Clifford.
Donald Clifford is survived by two sons: Russel (Marilyn) Clifford of Sioux City, and Mark Clifford; daughter Beverly (Richard) Lindsey of Savannah, Ga.; sister Marita Moles of Lolo, Mont.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
