Josh Odor, a 1996 Spencer High School graduate, is on a movie theater screen near you.

The actor, son of Jon and the late Lauri Odor, is portraying Texas head football coach Darrell Royal in "The Express," which is playing currently at Spencer 7 Theatres.

"The Express" follows the inspirational life of college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. Following his draft by the NFL, tragedy struck the star athlete and he was never able to take the professional field. But his tale would forever change the face of professional sports.

Odor moved to Chicago five years ago, where he worked a myriad of film, commercial and theater projects. Following graduations from Coe College and Cal State Fullerton, the actor has also worked with several theaters, including his current, Pine Box Theatre Company in Chicago.

Odor's friends and family members, including father Jon, sister Jessica and brother Ryan -- who will be adorned with "Josh 'Darrell Royal's' friends and family" stickers -- will be among those watching this afternoon's 4:20 p.m. matinee at the Spencer theaters in Southpark Mall. The PG-rated movie is scheduled to show at 1:45, 4:20, 7 and 9:35 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as at 1:45 p.m. Sunday and at 4:20 and 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

His father reported Josh does not yet know when he'll be able to view "The Express" because he's currently in production for the movie "Letters From Home," which highlights letters Iraqi soldiers have written. Odor is tentatively scheduled to visit family in Spencer on Oct. 21.
