From Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, some CFL bulbs can sell for as little as 99 cents at participating Ace Hardware, Bomgaars, Hardware Hank, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Menards and True Value Hardware locations throughout Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative's eight county service territory.
Not only do CFL bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy than typical incandescent light bulbs, CFLs also offer superior performance by lasting up to 10 times longer than the old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs. With the wide variety of CFL shapes, sizes and styles available, energy-efficient lighting can be used throughout the home all year round.
While the financial savings associated with using CFL's are one of the primary reasons consumers like them, CFL's offer environmental benefits as well.
"We want to do our part to reduce our country's greenhouse gas emissions and help fight global warming," said Terry L. Bruns, Iowa Lakes' President/CEO. "We are proud to spread the word about the difference that individuals in our community can make by taking energy-saving steps in the workplace and at home."
By choosing CFL lighting for the home with this simple action homeowners can save time, energy and money, and help preserve our environment for future generations!
Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative serves over 12,000 member-owner accounts locally in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties
