Rebel boys fourth at Poky Invite

POCAHONTAS -- The Sioux Central boys finished fourth at the Pocahontas Invitational Saturday, 30 points behind champion Laurens-Marathon, who won the meet with 57 points.

"We had a great day to run today. A couple of the guys are nursing some minor injuries and still went out and ran pretty well," said Sioux Central head coach Chris Smith.

The Rebels recorded four medal-winning performances, posting 87 points on the day to finish 13 behind Prairie Valley, who was third. Battle Creek-Ida Grove finished as the runner-up, four points off the pace.

Andrew Lichter, Andy Saunders, Jason Richter and Nelson Middendorf all earned medals with top 20 finishes.

Lichter led the Rebels, placing 11th in a time of 18-minutes, 56 seconds. Saunders was 15th, Richter was 18th and Middendorf rounded out the top 20. Ethan Lindquist posted Sioux Central's fifth score with a 23rd-place effort.

Dominick Amendolare and Dustin Patten also competed for the Rebels.
