Sioux Central girls just miss second title

Wednesday, October 8, 2008
POCAHONTAS -- Sioux Central came within an eyelash of claiming its second straight girls cross country title Saturday, finishing behind champion Galva-Holstein by just one point. The Rebels put all five of their scoring runners in the top 20, recording 58 points on the day.

"Missing the title by one point is frustrating, it just shows how important each place is during a meet," said Sioux Central head coach Chris Smith.

Pocahontas Area was third with 71 pints, Prairie Valley scored 98 and Southern Cal/Rockwell City/Lytton rounded out the top five with 141. Official times from the event were not available.

" ... I believe the girls ran well enough to set another record for team average. They have done so in three consecutive meets," said Smith.
