"We didn't do anything right all night. Some of that was them and some of that was us. I don't want to take anything away from how good they were," said Clay Central-Everly head coach Kevin Fahnlander.
The Mavericks scored their lone touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run from Brent Trierweiler. Southern Cal scored three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters and one more in the third.
Southern Cal finished with 330 yards rushing and 59 more through the air. Clay Central-Everly rushed for 132 yards and passed for three.
"We didn't do really anything offensively. I was disappointed in our effort from the standpoint that I thought we gave up the ship early," Fahnlander said. "I would like to have battle a little harder."
Sophomore Caleb Batschelet led CC-E on the ground, carrying six times for 55 yards. The Mavericks' leading rushing combo of fullback Lance Englert and Kasey Kunzmann was held to 44 yards. Kelan Richardson piled up 140 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries for Southern Cal; Eric Vogel had 115 yards on eight carries.
"This game is done and over with, we've got to move on and get better," said Fahnlander, who believes Southern Cal will be a major player for the state title. "I just can't imagine anybody really scratching them in Class A."
Englert led CC-E with 13 tackles, Austin Klett had 10 and Evan McCarty had six. Both teams had one turnover. Clay Central-Everly falls to 4-2 overall, 2-2 in the district.
