Several Spencer artisans were featured as destination sites on this year's Artisans Road Trip which took place over the weekend. Over 40 artists representing seven counties took part in the driving tour throughout northwest Iowa. (Above) Among locals featured, Chad Elliott works on a new painting at Shaky Tree Coffee. Elliott also displayed several of his other artistic skills including a new sculpture, "Swiftsure" in the foreground at Shaky Tree, where he performed Saturday night with Mother Banjo. (Center right) Clay County Clay, featuring originally crafted stoneware pieces by artist Mel Myers was also on the tour; as was the X-Alt Art Studio in rural Spencer, featuring digital art, painting and clay works created collaboartively by Anita Gilbert and Anthony Vodraska.
