(Photo submitted) The studio/gallery of O'Brien County artist Bruce Morrison was built from a former sheep barn. "July Afternoon" is one of Morrison's works.

Professional artists will welcome guests into their studios to discover and purchase quality original works during the fifth annual Artisans Road Trip (A.R.T.) on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4 & 5, Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from12 p.m.-5 p.m. The free tour will include 42 Northwest Iowa Artists representing 8 counties.

A.R.T. invites you to travel Iowa's scenic byways and back roads looking for one-of-a-kind art treasures. Artisans will offer a rare glimpse into creative processes as they demonstrate their craft in personal and unique workspaces.

One such unique workspace can be found at the studio/gallery of O'Brien County artist Bruce Morrison. Morrison's studio was built from a former sheep barn. Bruce and wife Georgeann rebuilt the original structure over the past year to create the studio and gallery space. The building was kept in its original form by recycling much of the original materials, but was built for year round use.

"We wanted to keep the original structure with the intent of celebrating the agriculture heritage of the area, as well as celebrating the visual arts in utilizing the space", said Morrison.

Morrison's work is well known throughout the state and region. The rural Hartley/Sutherland area artist works as a painter, printmaker, and photographer of our natural heritage and has had work published in many regional and national magazines and calendars, as well as having works exhibited in the U.S., Canada, and oversees.

* To learn more about the Artisans Road Trip and many other area artists who will have their work spaces open to the public, you can go the A.R.T. web site for a complete listing of artists, as well as maps and directions to each exhibiting artist. The web site is at http://www.artisansroadtrip.com.
