IGLKC Hosting AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Event

Iowa Great Lakes Kennel Club invites all dog lovers to an open house from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Industrial Building on the Clay County Fairgrounds. This event co-incides with the American Kennel Club's designation of September as "Responsible Dog Ownership Month". IGLKC will be offering the "Canine Good Citizen" examination to several dogs and their owners who have participated in a seven week training class. For those that pass the exam, the "CGC " designation will show that they have successfully completed the test and are well mannered dogs and that they will be good canine citizens in the community. There will also be lots of information on care and training of your dog as well as a "Meet the Breeds". Several club members will be there with their dogs to explain about their breeds and the various activities they participate in with their dogs, such as agility, obedience, conformation and rally.

Seeking Kinship ambassadors

Ambassadors are people who believe in the Kinship mission of helping kids realize their potential through relationships with positive adult role models. Ambassadors are willing to speak to friends, co-workers, and church groups about their experiences with Kinship and/or their general understanding of the value of mentorship. Many of our ambassadors are mentors; others are simply people who wish to make a difference for the children currently on the waiting list or in the Kinship program. All give their time as volunteers out of love for children and a desire to see our communities become gentler places to raise its youth. Might you have an hour each month to help us change lives? Please come join us for our first meeting along with a short mentor workshop and learn when and where the next gathering will take place.
