Funeral services for Mr. Bob Essick, 83, of Spencer, formerly of Webb and Laurens, were held Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Tonna Parsons officiated the service.

Interment took place at Garfield Cemetery in Webb.

Bob passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at home in Spencer.

Robert "Bob" Eugene Essick, the son of Harold Clyde and Mabel Irene (Johnson) Essick, was born June 20, 1925, in Pocahontas County. He received his early education in country schools in Pocahontas County.

Bob married Eleanor Ruth Woodford on Dec. 3, 1943, in Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage, they lived in rural Pocahontas. They then moved to Webb where Bob farmed and worked for C.I. Hersom Construction doing masonry work. In 1973, they moved to Laurens and he continued to work for Hersom's until retiring in 1987. In 1991, they moved to Spencer.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanette Essick; brother, Donald Essick; and his parents-in-law, Art and Mae Woodford.

Bob is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Spencer; three daughters: Peggy Christian and husband, Tom of Sioux Rapids, Patricia "Pat" Hermstad and husband, Troy of Sioux Rapids, and Donna Dickmann and husband, Darwyn of Hull; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Weber; and brother-in-law, Leo Alexander.

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
