"We were hoping to come out tonight in this first conference match and compete a little better," said Ruthven-Ayrshire head coach Kim Sierck. "Our play has been somewhat inconsistent, and that has to improve if we're going to put together some match wins."
Ruthven-Ayrshire struggled with its consistency both at the service line and at the net, serving at an 81-percent clip and hitting at 77 percent.
The Raiders did capitalize on 11 aces and 19 kills to win game two in come-from-behind fashion. Ruthven-Ayrshire had trailed 21-15.
"In game two, the girls really came together to come from behind and snag that game," Sierck said. "After winning game two, the girls kind of went flat instead of capitalizing and using that momentum."
Sadie Forey had a team-high seven kills on 22-of-27 hitting. She was 8-of-9 in serving with one ace and added six digs. Amanda Long led Ruthven-Ayrshire with four aces in an 18-of-20 effort. She also had four kills and a team-high nine digs. Jessica Larson provided three aces, three kills and five digs. Megan Alexander handed out 11 assists.
Ruthven-Ayrshire falls to 1-3 on the year.
