As predicted, thunderstorms rolled through the area during the overnight hours between Wednesday's and Thursday's fair operating hours. About the time the gates opened, the rain slowed to a stop and, by mid-morning, the clouds were breaking and the sun was shining. The light breeze made the 73 degree day seem about perfect. The final day of the midweek free tent entertainment saw crowds pack the tents on both sides of the fairgrounds, and many fairgoers had an opportunity to watch the square dancers work their magic to a live caller in front of the Varied Industries building.

Deloris Kettwick and Viola Krull, both of Buffalo Center, drove a long way to dig into a YMCA nutty bar. The ladies took a moment to relax from walking the fairgrounds, and grabbed a couple of the locally-popular nutty bars to enjoy. They missed out on Robinson's presentation, which was going on across the walkway.
