Funeral services for Margaret (Marousek) Fitzloff, 91, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Spencer, will take place at 11 a.m., today, Friday, Sept. 12, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate the service.
Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.
Margaret passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Well Life Assisted Living in Spirit Lake.
Margaret Mary Fitzloff, the daughter of George Van Houton and Agnes Grace, was born on May 26, 1917, in Winnebago, Neb. Her childhood years were spent in Winnebago where she attended country school. She then moved to Jackson, Neb., where she attended St. Catharine's Academy, graduating in 1936. Following graduation, she moved to Sioux City. On Nov. 19, 1938, Margaret married Leslie Marousek in Ponca, Neb. Following their marriage during the war years, Margaret worked at a manufacturing plant assembling parts while her husband was in the military. After her husband's death in 1948, Margaret moved to Fairmont, Minn., and then Spencer in 1958, where her parents could help her raise her family. She also worked part-time at Tom Thumb Nursery School while living in Spencer.
On Jan. 17, 1971, Margaret married Fern Fitzloff of Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm east of Spencer. Margaret was able to stay on the farm until November of 2004, when she moved to WEL-Life in Spirit Lake, to be closer to her son. Margaret was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Women of the Moose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant brother, Paul; and one sister, Cecelia Sellner.
Margaret is survived by her two sons: Richard Marousek of Vadnais Heights., Minn., and Les Marousek and his wife, Sharon, of Okoboji.
