Clay County Deputies made a series of arrests late last week with ties to drug distribution allegations in the area.

Deputies located 48-year-old Ronald Gene Bunker of Romona, S.D., at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of 340th Street in Everly after they had prior knowledge of a warrant for Bunker's arrest out of South Dakota. He was transported to jail and was held to appear before the magistrate on a charge of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

In an unrelated case, a Spencer woman and her adult son face charges related to possible distribution of marijuana.

Deputies charged 27-year-old Chris Nelson of Spencer with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with the intent to deliver and failure to apply a drug tax stamp at 6:24 p.m. Friday. He was arrested in the 400 block of First Avenue West, taken to the Clay County Jail, and later posted $2,000 bond and was released.

His mother, 52-year-old Marsha Nelson of Spencer, was arrested about 40 minutes later in the 110 block of Eighth Street Southeast.

Deputies did an arrest warrant check at Marsha Nelson's residence, found her and placed her under arrest on two Clay County Sheriff's Office arrest warrants. The warrants stem from the original charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and failure to apply a drug tax stamp.

Both charges are Class D felonies and Nelson was transported to the Clay County Jail without incident. Marsha Nelson also was released on $2,000 bond.
