Lorraine Untiet, 85, of Winona, Minn. passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Lake Winona Manor.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at Central Lutheran Church in Winona. Rev. Scott Olson will officiate the 10 a.m. service. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in Stratford, Wis.
Mrs. Lorraine Untiet, the daughter of Edward and Ada (Frederick) Zenner, was born May 31, 1923 in Stratford, Wis. She was united in marriage to Merlin Untiet on June 28, 1943 in Stratford. The World War II bride received her teaching certificate from Stevens Point Teachers College in 1943, and earned a bachelor's degree from Winona State College in 1974. She began her teaching career in a one-room school house in 1947 and retired from Goodview Elementary School in 1990 as one of Winona's most beloved kindergarten teachers.
Mrs. Untiet was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona, where she was involved in the Priscilla Circle, a past member of its Altar Guild and the choir. Prior to moving to Winona, she was also an active organist and Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Untiet was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nancy Halupnik.
Lorraine Untiet is survived by her husband, Merlin; children: Larry Untiet of Spencer, Karen Rose of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Janet (Kevin) Ewing of Rochester, Minn. and Linda (Bill) Withers of Waverly; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sons-in-law Ben Halupnik of Cedar Rapids, Mike Rose of Chippewa Falls, Wis. and daughter-in-law Kim Halverson-Untiet of West Des Moines; other relatives and friends.
