After being named John McCain's vice presidential running mate, people have talked about Gov. Sarah Palin's family.

They've also asked about her designer eyeglasses.

Let the record show: Palin's Kazuo Kawasaki by Italee frames are available locally.

"We're the only ones within 150 miles that are supposed to be carrying them," Vicki Seversen, office manager at Exact Eye Care, reported this week.

Palin recently updated her eyewear to the new lightweight, titanium, rimless frames. Minus the rectangular lenses, which Palin had custom-made by Alaskan retailer Home Optics, the Kawasaki frame starts at a suggested $375. Depending on the type of lenses, the total eyeglass package can run to $700.

While Seversen noted the Spencer outlet had not yet received any inquiries about the eyeglasses the Republican vice presidential nominee is wearing, she commented, "She's what's new -- and consumers want what's new."

Rich Hartmann of Spencer is among those who were ahead of the latest optical trend. He purchased his Italee eyeglasses two years ago.

"I like mine," he said. "They're lightweight and I like wearing them. They're comfortable."

When asked if he watched Palin's national address Wednesday, Hartmann answered, "I kind of noticed (her glasses) right away. ... They looked good on her."

I've had my glasses for four years and they are identical to Palins. I really like them as they are light weight and don't seem like I am wearing glasses at all.

Are you kidding me?? Glasses? This woman is up for the second most powerful position in the US and you're going on about her glasses?? What about her political views??

Why is it when a woman is in the spotlight, it's all about "who're you wearing??" Why can't we look a woman in the eye and ask her about her BELIEFS! Her POLITICAL VIEWS! Women are MORE than their looks and what designer clothes they wear!!

I may not agree with ANY of Sarah Palins' political views, and I WON"T vote for her, but I also DON"T like her being treated like a Barbie Doll!

Thank You

Because thats what other women want--to have something that a powerful woman has. women are followers and always have to have the latest "fad"!Some women are so insecure that it makes them feel good about themselves to be a follower. I will vote for McCain and Palin. I voted for Hillary and when she lost I would never vote for Obama. He is a worthless joke. If he was running for best actor of the year-then I would vote for him.

This article was not a political article. It was an about an exciting, nice looking woman, wearing an, exciting, nice looking frame. It was about an exclusive that Exact Eye Care has on that frame and how exciting it would be to be able to see the entire frame line at Exact Eye Care. It was fun! Lighten up people! Get an exciting new pair of glasses and take another look at the world! We all have political views, but you didn't hear them in this article!!

Puhleeeez!!! If I hear one more thing about Palin and her eyewear I will positively puke! So she had custom made lenses for glasses that Exact Eyecare had to rush out and publicize that they carry - what in the world does this have to do with her running for VP? This woman is getting WAY more notariety than she deserves!!! I agree 100% with Doggymom and her comments. No vote for Palin here either and NOT because of her eyewear ...
