James Bendlin, 49, of rural Spencer, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Rev. Brent Lingle will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Langdon.

Casket bearers will include Joe Skow, John Sheridan, Ardie Keune, Jeff Schwarck, Scott Scheiber and Mike Gidley.

James Edward Bendlin, the son of Clarence and Mary Jane (Freeburg) Bendlin, was born July 2, 1959, in Spencer. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1977.

Jim married Paula Rabel on Oct. 1, 1977, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Sioux Rapids. He started his own woodworking business, Little Sioux Workshop, in 1987. They moved to the family farm in 1994.

Jim Bendlin is survived by his wife, Paula, of Spencer; five children: Jimmy and his wife, Julie Bendlin, of Webb, Jeff and his wife, Melissa Bendlin, of Spencer, Amanda, John and Allison Bendlin, all of Spencer; one sister: Susan and her husband, Bob Morgan, of Grants Pass, Ore.; two brothers: Bob and his wife, Sue Bendlin, and Larry and his wife, Laura Bendlin, all of Spencer; mother-in-law Gerry Rabel of Spencer, other relatives and friends.
