Agricultural Equipment Parades will line the fairgrounds for three days during the 2008 Clay County Fair. The parades will be featured on the first Saturday and Sunday of the fair, September 6 and 7, and the last Friday, September 12. All parades will begin at 11 a.m. and entries will be announced in the KICD Courtyard.
Saturday and Sunday's parades will host the full line of equipment dealers at the fair; AgCo-Allis, New Holland, John Deere and Case IH. The parades will feature machinery with 100 horsepower and over. Dealers will be welcome to exhibit two to three pieces of farm equipment in the parade.
Friday's parade, new to the line-up this year, will host entries for compact equipment. The Friday parade requires machine horsepower to be no greater then 60 and is open to any equipment dealer. All parades will begin in the southwest corner of the fairgrounds.
Parade participant, Jeff Schemper of O'Brien County Implement says, "The parades are an important part of the fair because they help draw people out to the agricultural side of the fairgrounds."
Clay County Fair Executive Committee member, Dean Saunders, will announce the parades at the review stand in the KICD Courtyard on the first Saturday and Sunday of the fair and also on Friday for the compact equipment parade.
During the fair another special agricultural event will be held, the Ag Adventure Day Luncheon, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, September 10. Dr. Roger McEowen, Professor in Agriculture Law at Iowa State University, is set to speak at the luncheon which will be held in the Events Center Grand Ballroom. Tickets for the luncheon can be purchased at the Clay County Fair Administration office and are $10 per ticket.
* The 2008 Clay County Fair runs Sept. 6-14.
