Ruthven-Ayrshire traveled to Remsen to take on state-rated Remsen-Union, and the Raiders were sent packing with a 53-6 loss.

"It was disappoint to lose of course, but they are the No. 6 team in the state. We saw a lot of improvement throughout the game," Ruthven-Ayrshire head coach Luke Miller said.

Ruthven-Ayrshire battled the Rockets for the first 12 minutes, only trailing 7-0 after the first quarter. Remsen-Union blew the game open with a 26-point second quarter to take a 33-0 lead at halftime.

"The second quarter kind of shot us in the foot, but we came back and played really hard in the third quarter," Miller commented.

The Raiders broke onto the scoreboard with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Brad Geelan to Ryan Sikora in the third quarter.

"There were positive things all over the field, just not enough of them all at the same time," Miller said. "Our defensive end play improved throughout the game. We did keep the middle of the field blocked pretty well and we forced three turnovers."

Sikora also picked off two passes for the Raiders. Ruthven-Ayrshire racked up over 100 yards on the ground, spearheaded by the Brad Geelan's 91-yard effort. Shawn Molitor added 74 rushing yards for the 0-1 Raiders. Geelan was 4-for-15 passing for 90 yards; he threw two interceptions. Sikora had two catches for 40 yards, Mark Langner had two catches for 50 yards.

Remsen-Union rolled up 440 yards of total offense, 360 coming on the ground.

Ruthven-Ayrshire hosts Aur-elia next week.
