Funeral services for Eva Chard, 85, of Gillett Grove, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Julie McCullough will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place at Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon.

Eva passed away Thursday, Aug. 28 at Spencer Hospital.

Eva Helen Chard, the daughter of E.R. and Hulda (Anderson) Walstrom, was born May 23, 1923, in Marathon. She received her early education and graduated from the Gillett Grove High School. Following her schooling, Eva continued her education at A.I.B. Community College in Des Moines.

Eva married Kenneth Edward Chard on March 5, 1945, in Spencer. Following their marriage, they made their home in Gillett Grove. Eva was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gillett Grove where she was also active in the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth on Nov. 13, 1989; and three brothers.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Lynda Holmich of Cherokee; her son, Kenneth Chard of Gillett Grove; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
