Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Nystrom, 77, of Wahpteton, will be held at 2 p.m., today, Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Brian Nystrom will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral service.

Betty passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Lakes Regional Health Center in Spirit Lake.

Betty Jane Nystrom, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Davis) Turner was born on Feb. 4, 1931, in Iowa City. Betty was raised and received her early education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1949. Following graduation, she attended Business School in Minneapolis, Minn., for one year. She then moved to California and worked for Alcoa.

On Feb. 12, 1954, Betty married Bertil Nystrom in Long Beach, Calif. Following their marriage they lived in California and then Chicago for a year before moving to Spencer in 1955. Betty and her husband owned and operated B & B Cottages in Arnolds Park and she also worked part-time for the telephone company in Spencer. In 1965 they sold their business and she worked at Sears until retiring in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bertil of Wahpeton; three sons: Brian and his wife, Robin of Jackson Wyo., Bruce and his wife, Holly of Wahpeton, and Bradley of Hamburg, Germany; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dickinson County Hospital.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
