Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Newell, 87, of Sutherland, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at United Methodist Church of Sutherland. Rev. Jud Stover will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland.

Interment will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Windom, Minn.

Norma passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.

Norma Marjorie Newell, the daughter of Norman and Susan Smith Behl, was born March 19, 1921, in Hettinger, N.D. Her childhood years were spent in Hettinger, where she received her education. Following her schooling, she worked at her family produce and shoe repair business.

Norma married William George Newell on Aug. 5, 1940, in Baker, Mont. Following their marriage, they lived in several communities in Minnesota, including Delft, Minn. and Mountain Lake, Minn., where they lived for many years. They later moved to Bingham Lake, Minn., where they lived in their later years. Following her husband's death in 1965, she continued to live in Bingham Lake until 10 years ago, when she moved to Sutherland. Norma had recently moved to the Sutherland Care Center, where she had resided at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill in 1965; her son, Larry; and four sisters: Fern, Goldie, Sylvie and Berniece.

Norma is survived by her children: Marjorie Gregg of Tuquilla, Wash., Dale Newell and his wife, Chris of Meridan, David Newell and his wife, Mary of Primghar, and Dwain and his wife, Karey of Lakefield, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland is in charge of arrangements.
