Cocaine trafficking suspected in Spencer

Three home searches revealed an apparent cocaine distribution ring in and around Spencer, according to a statement from the Spencer Police Department.

Members of the Spencer Police Department conducted the searches on Aug. 22. The search at 3610 290th Avenue in rural Dickens led to the arrest of 51-year-old Don Mobley. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine after the drugs and paraphernalia were located at the residence. The charges are serious misdemeanors and bond was set at $2,000 for Mobley.

Upon completion of that search, officers then went to the home of 31-year-old Nathan Blanchard at 517 East 12th Street in Spencer.

He was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, and failure to have a drug tax stamp. Members of the police department found marijuana at Blanchard's residence along with drug paraphernalia.

He has posted $5,000 bond and was released.

Officers then went to 2625 320th Street in Spencer and conducted a search at the home of 44-year-old Steven Lee Quail.

Quail is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver cocaine, a Class C felony, delivery of cocaine, also a Class C felony, drug tax stamp, a Class D felony, delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, a D felony and possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony. He is being held on $129,250 bond.

The Spencer Police Department was assisted by Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Clay County Sheriffs Department with K-9 Max, and the Clay County Attorneys Office.

Why aren't these 3 men pictures splattered on the front page of the paper??? They should be!! It seems its a pick and choose or if someone knows them or not oh we can't show there pictures!! You show others that have been charged with something!!! So just wondering where there picture is, they were delivering drugs near schools??????????

I agree! If you are going place photos of people with drug charges, post them all, not just the ones you want. These men are endangering out kids by selling near schools. I know I want to know what these predators look like!

Kind of reinforces the comment that I made on the meth story. Do you think that these guys will go to federal prison for 5-10 years ????????? Will we see them on the 10 o clock news?? I sure hope so
