Lyle "Bud" Frederick, 81, of Alta, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at home.

A funeral service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with Pastor Terry Pollard officiating.

Burial took place at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery of Storm Lake.

Lyle Gordon Frederick, the son of Jabe Ward and Violet (De Noon) Frederick was born on a farm west of Rembrandt, near the Highview School on Jan. 11, 1927. He attended the school at Rembrandt Consolidated School. He was a member of the Rembrandt Methodist Church. He worked at Hygrade in Storm Lake and retired from Schoon Construction in Cherokee. He also served on the Alta City Council.

He married Erma Coons in Olathe, Kansas on Oct. 5, 1963. They moved to Alta in 1965.

He is preceded in death by his wife Erma in 2002; his parents; two brothers, Harold and Dale Russell (deceased in infancy).

Lyle is survived by his daughter, Kathy Dirkx and husband Ardan of Storm Lake; his son, David of Cherokee; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Harvey of Alta; one stepson, Larry Coons of Gulf Shores, Ala.; two grandchildren, including Brian Dirkx and wife Michele of Spencer; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill Frederick and wife, Donna of Webb; and his sister, Beverly Richardson and husband, Donald of Sioux Rapids.

The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta was in charge of the arrangements.
