The Spencer Family Aquatic Center will now only be open on the weekends of Aug .23-24 and Aug. 30-31. It will also be open on Monday, Sept. 1, Labor Day until 5 p.m. at which time it will close for the season.
New Singles group in Spencer

YMCA closed for remodeling
The Spencer Family YMCA will be closed for remodeling at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22 and will reopen at regular business hours on Monday.
Angel Food Ministry pick-up
First Christian Church, 701 E. 18th St. will host Angel Food Ministry order pick-up from 1:30-3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23.

VFW pancake breakfast
The Clay County VFW Post 3159 will host a pancake breakfast with eggs, ham sausage and a drink from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24. A free will donation will be accepted. The public is welcome.
Retirement for Elmer Williams
A retirement coffee for Elmer Williams, city of Spencer street superintendent, will take place from 2-4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29 in council chambers at City Hall.
Fair Photography accepting entries
The Photography Department will be accepting entries from 12-7p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. The photography department is now located just east of the Pork Producers Chop Shop and directly south of the outdoor horse arena. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Great Lakes Antique Automobiles
The Iowa Great Lakes Region Antique Automobile Club will be on display through Sunday, Aug. 24 at the Southpark Mall in south Spencer. Car enthusiasts and history buffs will enjoy this display. On Aug. 24 The Hands of Harmony Swinging Seniors will be entertaining us at 2:30 p.m. Come enjoy the display and entertainment.
Danny Santos at Shaky Tree
