Services for Roger E. Miller, 63, of Ruthven, were held Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at United Methodist Church of Ruthven. Rev. Roger Maize officiated.
Interment took place at Crown Hill Cemetery of Ruthven.
Roger passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at his home.
Roger Ervin Miller, son of Ervin C. and Doris (Brown) Miller, was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Spencer. He received his education in Ruthven, graduating from Ruthven Community School in 1963. Roger served in the United States Navy for a short time before being honorably discharged.
On April 23, 1966, Roger was united in marriage to Linda Sue Seversen at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa. To this union four sons were born.
Roger began driving truck when he was fourteen years old. He worked with his father, who owned and operated Miller Truck Service. Roger was active trucking with Ervin for several years. Roger owned and operated his own trucking firm until 1983. Currently he was trucking for AGP. Throughout his trucking career, Roger received numerous safe driving awards.
Roger served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin C. and Doris Miller; a sister, Beverly Craig; a nephew, Mitchell Craig; and his father-in-law, Axel Seversen.
Roger is survived by his wife, Linda of Ruthven; his children, Shawn and Angie Miller of Harlan, Shane and Julie Miller of Hinton, Shannon Miller and Andrea Jacobsen of Walnut,, and Shad and Mistie Miller of Ames; seven grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Joens of Clarinda; his mother-in-law, Lois Seversen of Spencer; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Sharon Clarke of Spencer.
Arrangements were handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
