Jean Knight, 83, passed away July 23, 2008.
Funeral services were held at the Douglass Church of Christ in Douglass, Kansas July 28, with a graveside service at Viola, Aug. 6 at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola.
Jean Elaine Pfitzenmaier was born Feb. 9, 1925, in O'Brien County near Primghar. She was the daughter of Art and Loena Pfitzenmaier. Jean attended schools in O'Brien County and graduated from Hartley High School in Hartley, Iowa in 1943. She married Edwin Knight June 1, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. They farmed in Jones and Linn Counties and later moved to Clovis, N.M. Jean worked at Collins in Cedar Rapids, Breons clothing store in Anamosa and Roden Smith drug store in Clovis, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin Knight; and granddaughter, Nicole Wherry.
Jean is survived by three sisters: June Hubbard (Ron) of Worthington, Shirley Peters (Wayne) of Spencer, and Bonnie Schoelerman (Fred) of Hartley; one sister-in-law, Eilene Knight of Cogan; two daughters: Kathy (Keith) Cross of Douglass, Kansas and Sandra (Gordon) Wherry of Anamosa; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the 16th & Pile Church of Christ at 16th and Pile Streets, Clovis, N.M. 88101.
