A funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at 10:30 a.m.. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Alta.
Interment was in the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta.
Erik Raymond Anderson, son of Hjalmar and Anna Anderson was born Aug. 10, 1920, in rural Alta. He departed this life on Aug. 5, 2008, at age 87 years old. Raymond received his education in the Alta Community school system, graduating in 1937.
He attended Iowa State University for a year planning on majoring in Veterinarian medicine until WWII interrupted those dreams.
On Feb.1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Arlene Jeanette Rydstrom at the Trinity Parsonage in Alta. The couple farmed in the Alta area all of their married life.
In 1984 they retired and moved from the farm home south of Alta to West 9th Street.
Raymond stayed in his home in Alta until March of this year when he and Arlene moved in to WelLife Assisted Living and in June to St. Luke Nursing Home in Spencer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmar and Anna; and one brother, Herbert.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Arlene; three daughters: Judy Englert and her husband, Rich of Everly, Peggy Fliss and her husband, Jim of Spirit Lake, and Kathy Nelson and her husband, Tom of Spencer; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Glen Anderson and his wife Carma of Wahpeton.
