Lincoln Lions 4-H Club was rewarded with a picnic complements of Clay County Extension during the club's July 20 meeting held at Scharnburg Park. The 4-H club was given this honor because they won the 4-H Share the Fun Club Challenge during Communications Day.
4-H clubs were invited to gather at least 25 percent of their club members and perform a skit, song, dance or other entertaining performance during the June 18th Communications Day. Audience members voted on their favorite club performance with the winning club to receive a picnic hosted by Clay County Extension staff.
Lincoln Lions 4-H club members won the challenge with an original skit titled "Hamming it Up." The club was also selected to represent Clay County during the District Share the Fun event to be held during the Clay County Fair. You can catch the Lincoln Lions 4-H Club award winning performance in the 4-H Auditorium on Sunday, September 14. The District Share the Fun event is scheduled from 1-3 p.m.
Share the Fun is just one of the avenues the 4-H program utilizes to encourage positive youth development. Working together 4-H members experience a sense of belonging and learn cooperative skills. Taking on the responsibility to practice encourages independence. Speaking or performing in front of a live audience helps 4-H'ers master public speaking skills and promotes self-confidence.
