Jack D. Mankle, 81, of Arnolds Park, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Lake Park Care Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Schuchert Funeral Home. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service. Burial will be at the Milford Cemetery.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1926, in Princeville, Illinois, to Charles and Edith (Oertley) Mankle.

Jack graduated from the Princeville High School in 1944. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, from 1944 until 1946. Jack was united in marriage to Regina "Jeanne" Myers on July 5, 1947, in Jackson, Minn. Jeanne passed away Feb. 26, 1987.

Jack worked for Spencer foods for twenty years. He also owned and operated a resort in Minnesota, and a motel in Okoboji. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Regina "Jeanne"; an infant son, Greg; and a sister, Vera.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacque Hentges and her husband, Jim of Okoboji; three sons: Terry Mankle and his wife, Sheryl, of Spencer, Kent Mankle of New Ulm, Minn., and Scott Mankle of Arnolds Park; two sisters: Erma Pullen and Carol Miller and her husband, Roger; four brothers: Ralph Mankle, Donald Mankle, Orville Mankle and Jerry Mankle; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The Schuchert funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
