Memorial services for Margery will be held at 7 p.m., tonight, Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the First United Church of Christ in Sioux Rapids.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Liberty Township Cemetery at Liberty Center.
A time of visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the start of the services on Wednesday.
Margery Kay Van Zee, the daughter of Edison and Audrey (Amos) Van Zee, was born at Lacona, on Sept. 27, 1943. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith at the Lacona United Methodist Church. Marge was a 1961 graduate of the Southeast Warren High School.
Marge was united in marriage to William Johnson on June 1, 1976, at Omaha, Neb., and this couple was blessed with two children: Jyl and Cale. Following their marriage, Bill and Marge resided at Des Moines and Armstrong, before coming to make their home in Sioux Rapids in 1986. During the time that they have lived in Sioux Rapids, Marge has operated her own housecleaning business.
Marge was a member of several businesswomen clubs including the "Chicks" and the BPW Club, of which she had been treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Margery is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bill of Sioux Rapids; her children: Jyl DeJong and husband, Chad of Knoxville, and Cale Johnson of Sioux Rapids; her three grandchildren; her three brothers: Marvin Van Zee and wife, Judy of Salem, Ore., Melvin Van Zee of Des Moines, and Gerald Van Zee of Clive; and sister, Virginia Reams and husband, Larry of Council Bluffs.
