The meeting will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and conclude with a lunch at 12:30 p.m.
"The goal of the meeting is to provide landowners and potential investors with information they need in order to make educated decisions about signing lease options for wind turbine construction or investing in wind energy," said Marcia Langner, Clay County ISU Extension Education Director.
Bill Haman of the Iowa Energy Center will give an overview of wind energy in Iowa. Erin Herbold and Roger McEowen of the ISU Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation will review legal aspects for investing in wind energy, leasing options, and negotiation considerations. A panel of Northwest Iowa landowners Jerry Heetland, Leo Stephas, and Greg Mohr will share their wind energy experiences and discuss considerations they used to base wind energy related decisions. Audience members will have the opportunity to interact and ask questions.
A registration form can be downloaded from the Clay County Extension website at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/clay or picked up at the Clay County Extension Office at 110 West 4th Street in Spencer. The cost of the seminar is $15 per person if pre-registered or $25 per person at the door. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
