Augustana College's Dean's List for the 2008 spring semester cites the academic achievements of 520 students. Full-time students with grade point averages of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the Dean's List. Among them: Elizabeth Marie Davis of Spencer.


Recognition for outstanding academic achievement has been given to the following Grand View College students for the 2008 spring semester. The students are named to the Dean's List for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 hours of classes. Among them were: Hillary Ann Jones of Milford and Beth Noelle Ehlers of Sioux Rapids.


The Office of the Registrar and the Graduate School at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, has released the names of students who completed requirements for degrees at the conclusion of the 2008 spring trimester. Among them was: Jessica Anne Range of Milford, Bachelor of Sciences degree, Public Relations.


Teresa Becker, a 2005 graduate of CCE, has received recognition on the National Dean's List for the Spring Semester of the 2008 academic year at Indiana Wesleyan University. To be named on the list, a student must obtain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.00 scale and carry at least 12.0 credit hours for the semester.


More than 2,000 students were named to the Dean's List at the University of Nebraska of Omaha (UNO) for the spring 2008 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a grade point average (G.P.A) of 3.5 or better for courses taken at UNO during the semester, provided 12 or more semester hours were completed. Among those: Lisa Paulsen, Spencer.


Cornell named 194 students, or about 18 percent of its enrollment, to the Dean's List for the spring semester ending May 28. A grad point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale is required for this designation. "Highest honors" are granted to students with 4.0 averages. Among those: Emily Burnham, senior, highest honors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burnham, Spencer.


Around 527 individuals have been named to the North Iowa Area Community College Dean's List for the 2008 Spring Semester. That includes 301 full-time students and 226 part-time students who together represent 85 communities in Iowa, seven states and six countries. Among those: Courtney Hanson, Graettinger and Jesse Zahrt, Spencer.


Bates Receives associate degree from AIB

Ashley Bates has been awarded an associate degree in Realtime Reporting/Closed Captioning from AIB College of Business. Bates is the daughter of Shelley and Roger Johnson of Peterson and Duane and Peggy Bates of Spencer. She is a graduate of Clay Central/Everly High School in Everly. AIB held its annual commencement ceremony Sunday, June 8 to formally recognize and honor students who completed a degree program at the college.


Reflecting a growing emphasis on international academic experiences, a record number of Buena Vista University (BVU) students will be studying abroad during the 2008 fall semester. Twelve students will be traveling to countries ranging from Wales, to England, Ireland, Greece, Japan, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Mexico. They will become immersed in the cultures of those countries as they take college classes, or student teach and participate in internships. A local student who will be studying abroad this fall: Brittany Goede, a senior political science and public administration double major from Spencer. She will be doing an internship in London through the Washington Center's Washington, D.C. -- London Internship Program.


Following is a list of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln students named to the Dean's List/Honor Roll for the spring semester of the 2007-08 academic year. Qualification for the Dean's List/Honor Roll vary among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Division of General Studies. Among those: Samuel Austin Maertens, Spencer, senior, Finance.


Sigma Alpha Lambda is proud to announce that Jill C. Kassel of Spencer has recently become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization at the Iowa State University. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national leadership and honors organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development, and lifelong professional fulfillment. Congratulations to Jill C. Kassel.


Northwest Iowa Community College students competed at the National Skills USA Conference in Kansas City during the week of June 23, 2008. The conference is an annual event where career and technical education students from around the United States showcase their skills. Skills USA is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations education.

Joe Kuehler, Spencer, competed and received recognition for placing 8th in the nation in technical drafting
