Services are pending at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer for a rural Dickens man who died in a farming accident Friday morning.

Clay County deputies were called at 10:14 a.m. to 3340 290th Avenue in Dickens. Upon arrival emergency responders learned that 61-year-old William Albert Swart had been pinned beneath a large deck mower he had been working on.

Rescue workers at the scene attempted to resuscitate Swart, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clay County Medical Examiner.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Dickens Fire & Rescue, Spencer Ambulance, Clay County Medical Examiner and Warner's Funeral Home.
