Local children's theater brings Disney classic to stage

The Spencer Community Children's Theater is jumpin' with jazz in this exciting Disney classic, "The AristoCats."

SCT's "The AristoCats" features a cast and crew of more than 50 children between the ages of 6 and 14 from Spencer and the surrounding communities. Directed by Leah Marshall, with Jeremy Devine as music director, "The AristoCats" is a treat for the whole family. Performances begin tonight and continue Friday, and Saturday July 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 at 2 p.m.

Join Duchess and her kittens as they search for their way back home after being cat-napped by the jealous butler, Edgar. Guided by the smooth-talking Thomas O'Malley and his pack of alley cats, the Aristocats soon learn the benefits of a freewheeling, exciting alley cat life. Specially adapted from the beloved film, this musical includes all your favorite Disney tunes like "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" and "Scales and Arpeggios." With colorful characters and the toe-tappin' beat, "The AristoCats" is a crowd-pleaser for audiences of all ages.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and are available at the SCT Box Office on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as an hour before each performance (when available). The number for the box office is 262-7336. Reservations may be made in advance or sold at the door if available.

SCT Playhouse is located one block off Grand Avenue in downtown Spencer at 518- 1st Ave. E. SCT Playhouse is accessible to the physically challenged. Reserved parking stalls are located east of the facility.
