When a deputy arrived, he spoke with Melissa Loontjer at a residence in the 4400 block of 200th Avenue in Clay County. She told the deputy the front windshield and rear windows of her vehicle had been broken out by 26-year-old Bridget Gilmore, who left the residence and was possibly headed to Spencer.
The deputy also determined that Gilmore used force to gain entry through the rear door of the residence.
"Gilmore and Loontjer had apparently been out together drinking earlier in the evening," Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow said.
At some point, Gilmore thought Loontjer had something Gilmore wanted in her house or car. Once she shattered the car windows, Krukow believes Gilmore left the scene.
The responding deputy then contacted Spencer Police Officers with information about the vehicle Gilmore was driving. She was located, pulled over and taken into custody for operating while intoxicated.
The deputy met with Gilmore at the Clay County Jail. The charge of third-degree criminal mischief is an aggravated misdemeanor and the third-degree burglary charge is a Class D felony.
She was held in jail to appear before a magistrate.
