Graveside services for Mabel Swaim, 88, of Spencer, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson. Rev. Michael Sharp will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Peterson.

Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery.

Mabel passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Mabel Lucille Swaim, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Noyer) Hodge was born on Dec. 8, 1919, in Eldora. Mabel was raised and received her early education in Eldora. After her schooling, she held various jobs in Eldora.

On July 10, 1944, Mabel married Olin Swaim in Waterloo. Following their marriage, they continued to live in the community of Eldora, where Mabel was a homemaker. After her husband's death in 1971, Mabel moved to Spencer. She worked at the Center Café as a dishwasher for about 15 years before retiring. She was also a past member of the Eagle's Club in Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and three sisters.

Mabel is survived by nieces and nephews: Karen and Dave Gunnerson of Peterson, Marilyn and Roger Isom of Sutherland; and great nieces and nephews: Bill and Amy Gunnerson of Spencer, Gary Joe and Natalie Gunnerson of Peterson, Jackie and Sonny Peterson of Sioux Rapids, and Paul and Trish Isom of Sutherland.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
