Funeral services for Carolyne J. Laubenthal, 72, of Cylinder, will be held at 1:30 p.m., today, Saturday, July 5, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of Emmetsburg. Rev. David A. Morris will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.

Carolyne passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her home in Cylinder.

Carolyne Jane Laubenthal, daughter of Albert and Lena (Cook) Kirkwood, was born May 30, 1936, in Spencer. She attended school in Spencer graduating from Spencer High School in 1954.

On April 12, 1958, Carolyne was united in marriage to Donald Laubenthal in Spencer. To this union six children were born.

Carolyne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg where she was active in United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Spencer for many years. Carolyne held various offices in each of these organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and Ed; and two sisters: Regina Durst and Joan Olson.

Carolyne is survived by her husband, Donald of Cylinder; her children: Joel Laubenthal of Cylinder, Sarah Steffen and her husband, Cliff of Ruthven, Pat Paskert of Lake Park, Rich Laubenthal and his wife, Pat of Whittemore, Donna Faulkingham and her husband, Mike of Knob Noster, Mo., and Susan Stearns of Emmetsburg; her 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
