The Meiers donated their sheared locks to Locks of Love, which provides hairpieces to financially-disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
While Friday marked Elizabeth's fourth and Karisa's third time for donating their fast-growing hair to the public non-profit organization, it also marked the second time the two girls had joined their mother during the same cutting session to donate their locks to Locks of Love. Kim, Elizabeth and Karisa Meier have been growing their hair since 2003, the last time they did this together.
Mary Jo Meier of Manson, Scott's mother, ran through their thoughts as the three were trimmed Friday afternoon. Diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago, the mother-in-law of Kim and grandmother of Elizabeth, Karisa and Joshua is a breast cancer survivor today.
