During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Lori and Jon Black of W. 10th St., Spencer, Iowa.
Black graduated in 2004 from Spencer High School and received an associate degree in 2006 from North Iowa Community College, Mason City.
Dan Jindrich, a 2004 graduate of McCall-Donnelly High School, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army on 09 May, 2008. He has been assigned to Ft. Lewis, WA for the summer as an instructor/evaluator for the "Warrior Forge" program. This fall he will attend Infantry Officer School at Ft. Benning, GA to be followed by Ranger School in the spring of 2009. After graduation from Ranger School he has been assigned as an infantry platoon leader with the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum, NY.
Lt. Jindrich spent the summer of 2006 in Air Assault School with the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, KY and the summer of 2007 with the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea. He was the 2007 Commander of the Chrissman Battalion, University of Idaho Army ROTC and graduated this spring with a bachelor degree in Justice Studies with minors in Sociology and Military Science.
Dan is the son of Julie (Vogt -- 1976 graduate of Spencer High School) and Larry Jindrich of McCall, ID and the grandson of Donna Vogt of Spencer.
