Driver crashes into convenience store…

Robin Barnes was charged with second-offense operating while intoxicated and reckless driving at 8:40 p.m. Friday, June 6, after she was backing from a parking space near Dyno's at Grand Avenue and West First Street. The rear bumper of the GMC Yukon driven by Barnes struck the east concrete pole on the north edge of the parking lot. The impact startled Barnes and she drove forward. She then struck the north side of the building. The Yukon went into the interior of the store, damaging display cases, counters and merchandise. The displays fell into a cashier and the clerk complained of back pain. Damage to a concrete-filled post is estimated at $500. Damage to the store is estimated at $15,000 and the vehicle sustained $5,000 damage.

…Laundromat takes a beating, too

Timothy John Coleman was northbound through a parking lot at 6:16 a.m. Saturday, June 7, near the Gateway North Center when he was pulling up to the laundromat on the south side of the building. The brakes on his 1996 Chevolet Blazer failed and he was unable to slow or stop his vehicle. He ran over a bicycle and crashed into the building, causing $3,500 damage. The Blazer sustained $2,500 damage.
